cbryce_1 Posted 16 July , 2012 Share Posted 16 July , 2012 My daughter and I are arriving in Ypres in September and would like a guide to take us around on the 28th. My main aim is to locate all the places my great grandfather would have been (not many as he was only there a week when he was killed). He is buried at Oosteverne Wood and I also have the war diaries from when he was in the trenches and the actual map point for where he was originally buried so you can understand why I want a personal tour. Can anyone recommend someone who could help. We are also looking for accommodation recommendations. Thanks for any help in advance.
Chris_Baker Posted 16 July , 2012 Share Posted 16 July , 2012 You might find my accommodation list helpful: http://www.1914-1918.../guideypres.htm For local guides try Jacques and Genevra Ryckebosch at Flanders Battlefield Tour or Iain McHenry at Trenchmap Tours - both found easily by a quick Google. sajackr Posted 16 July , 2012 Share Posted 16 July , 2012 Hi cbryce_1 My choice of accomodation is the BB Hortensia, which I use a couple of times a year. It is just up from the Lille gate, good rates, friendly and clean. Michaël & Véronique can be contacted direct, bbhortensia@hotmail.com. I will be arriving on the 28th Sept so we may cross paths?
