Guest Posted 14 July , 2012 Share Posted 14 July , 2012 While trawling the Army List for May 1915 whilst doing some other research, I noticed that the 6th (Service) Bn The Royal Irish Regt had a considerable number of Officers from the Royal Guernsey Militia - does anyone know the background to this? It looks as if Officers from the Royal Guernsey Militia were used as the nucleus of the 6th Bn Royal Irish Regiment.....stop press. I see in Brig James' "British Regiments 1914-1918" they were joined by one Coy (7 Officers and 238 ORs) from the Royal Guernsey Militia in March 1915... does anyone know what triggered this? MickLeeds Posted 15 July , 2012 Share Posted 15 July , 2012 Also a company of the Royal Jersey Militia (6 officers, 225 other ranks) joined the 7th Royal Irish Rifles in March 1915. I don't know if this was because of a historical connection to the regiment or just being sent where they were needed ?
