henson Posted 27 June , 2012 Share Posted 27 June , 2012 Hello. . . I know a fair amount about my Grt. Uncle; at one time A/Sgt James Burnett Dale, in Oct/Nov 1918 NCO in charge of supply accounts and correspondence in the SSTO's office, Tabora. In Nov 1918 to Jun ? 1919 L/C Depot Supplies and accounts. at Tabora POW camp. (altho' I don't yet know whether the POW camp was in the Fort or not ! ) Getting to the point. . . In Sept 1918, before he arrived at Tabora, he served as NCO in charge of Supply Depots at Ribaue, Malema, Chinga and Nampula in PEA. Would any members have general or detailed info. on British on the ground activity ( not political ) at these locations in PEA ( Mozambique ) ? Regards to all. . . . centurion Posted 27 June , 2012 Share Posted 27 June , 2012 Pages 174 -182 of Hew Strachan's The First World War in Africa cover British attempts to bolster Portuguese resistance to Lettow's forces. They need to be read in conjunction with a map.
