John Gilinsky Posted 4 May , 2012 Share Posted 4 May , 2012 Hello. Great news for anyone interested in the Canadian Expeditionary Force especially from a unit based perspective. Barb Wilson the retired governmental and military archivist produced in the 1970's through early 1990's a major multi-volume Guide to CEF Units based on the holdings of the then Public / National Archives of Canada and now the Library and Archives (LAC) Canada holdings in Ottawa, Canada. As a heavy user of such Canadian records I can tell you that Wilson's guide is absolutely indispensable and an excellent primary starting point for unit based reseearch. The 31 sections can be downloaded for free from the Library and Archives website here: http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/the-public/005-1142.29-e.html Please note that Barb's guide while excellently comprehensive does NOT exhaustively encompass ALL CEF generated contemporary or especially POST-WAR records. laughton Posted 10 May , 2012 Share Posted 10 May , 2012 You can now also get all the Barb Wilson files as a COMPLETE PDF file or as a ZIP file, as we have it posted from the CEFSG (Canadian Expeditionary Force Study Group). Details are here: Barb Wilson Thematic Collection I have put the INFANTRY section into WORD and will do others on an "as needed" basis. Cheers to all across the pond!
