Does anybody have the war diaries or information on the 12th Battalion Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders during the Salonika Campaign, my Great Great uncle served with the Battalion in 1918 after he returned from being wounded in France, and i would be very interested to hear about that battalion. I have researched what they have on The Long Long Trail, but i would like some more specifics at Battalion level!

I have found a reference to the 12th Argyle and Sutherland Highlanders in the 9th Battalion East Lancs war diary.

1st August 1916 they are at a place called Rates which is about a kilometre south of lake Doiran

It's not much but it might help.

Hopefully this may be of use to someone,

A couple of days ago ( 30/4/17 and 1/5/17 ) I visited Doiran - both the war cemetery and the memorial - taking numerous photographs including all of the plaques and inscriptions related to the 12th Argylls. I would be very happy to share these directly with anyone interested.

My grandfather was there although I'm pleased to say that he came back home, unlike so many others.

Its a beautiful spot, even when it's raining.

Hi There, I have just come across this post. Would you happen to have a picture of the grave of Sgt William Fox Ritchie? He died on the 19th of September 1918.

Many Thanks

Ritchie
