Ste Posted 9 August , 2004 Share Posted 9 August , 2004 Rumours of the 1/5 South Lancs' departure from St Helens continue to circulate around the town. The men are allowed out of barracks (incldung the various public buildings in which the bulk of the battalion are billeted) on Saturday evening. Those who live close to the town centre rush to visit family and friends. Some who live further away manage to borrow bicycles and 'career madly' across the town to snatch what could be a last visit before entraining.
