Irish soldiers suffering from trauma/shell-shock

Hey everyone,

I am currently researching Irish soldiers who suffered from shell-shock at Northumbria University. I am, however, only researching treatment and recovery after the war (1918-1930) as my dissertation's word count is only 15,000 words. I have, however, been accepted into Queen's to pursue a doctorate on the topic but I will be opening my research to their experiences during the war, 1914-1918, to make sure that a lengthy thesis can be produced.

I was just wondering whether anyone had any advice on researching shell-shock/trauma and the Irish at war first-hand? I am particularly interested in letters, diaries, medical notes where men mention their emotional state and the horrors that thay they are experiencing. I'd imagine that there are records in the Imperial War Museum but, as ever, this forum was my first port of call before hoping to really delve into this fascinating subject later in the summer.
