Stephen Nulty Posted 14 March , 2012 Share Posted 14 March , 2012 Thanks to IFTC for helping to get young Matthew Ormrod commemorated. His brother James had died in July 1918 whilst a PoW and rests in Cologne Southern Cemetery. We haven't as yet been able to find Matthew's final resting place, but the search continues with an article going in the local newspaper next month. Stephen Nulty Posted 15 March , 2012 Share Posted 15 March , 2012 I assume that the local authority cemeteries have been checked Hi Chris Yes, we've checked all the obvious places with no luck. I have some local genealogists on the case, with a few local forums running threads on this, and a newspaper article coming in a few weeks. Fingers crossed !! rickpreston@nasuwt.net Posted 8 October , 2013 Share Posted 8 October , 2013 How long does it take the GWGC from receiving the original form to recognition? and what is the procerdure they go through? Richard
Terry Denham Posted 9 October , 2013 Author Share Posted 9 October , 2013 That question is the 'piece of string' one. There is no set timescale but count on a year at least at the moment. Due to issues with MoD recently it has been taking even longer. We have cases outstanding from 2009. CWGC first reviews the evidence supplied, checks for likely qualification, asks for more evidence etc. They then pass the case to the approving authority - relevant department of each UK service at MoD or equivalents in the Dominions. CWGC does not approve cases itself.
