Wings5797 Posted 8 January , 2012 Share Posted 8 January , 2012 Hello everybody, A purely hypothetical question that will help me with a figure that I am currently constructing. The model is of a Sergeant of the 1st Battalion Gordon Highlanders in Le Cateau France August 1914. Can anyone please advise me of the possible medal group that a seasoned, long serving sergeant in this regiment may be wearing at the start of the war. Best regards Keith
Sandie Hayes Posted 8 January , 2012 Share Posted 8 January , 2012 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_campaign_medals Does this help? You just need to decide which campaigns the Gordon Highlanders were involved in.
Old Owl Posted 8 January , 2012 Share Posted 8 January , 2012 Hello everybody, A purely hypothetical question that will help me with a figure that I am currently constructing. Can anyone please advise me of the possible medal group that a seasoned, long serving sergeant in this regiment may be wearing at the start of the war. Best regards Keith Hi Keith, A fairly typical group to such a soldier who had served continually with the 1st Bn Gordon Highlanders, would be as follows: IGS 1895 with clasps: Punjab Frontier 1897-98 and Tirah 1897-98 QSA with clasps: Cape Colony, Paardeberg, Driefontein, Johannesburg and Belfast KSA with clasps: South Africa 1901 and South Africa 1902 LS&GC, EdV11 or GV issue. Delhi Durbar 1911. Of course if you are only making a model the actual clasps will be irrelevant, however you may need to know the number of clasps on each medal? Hope this helps, Robert
