shred Posted 8 January , 2012 Share Posted 8 January , 2012 Hi, I am unaware if a ROH was produced for Ward and Goldstone, Manchester, but will take a look at the Salford Local History Museum when I visit on Wednesday evening. He is shown as living in Lambeth in the 1911 census. Henry's MIC gives an address in Fulham. He was married in Fulham on 1918. His probate shows an address in Mitcham in 1941. All the above addresses are geographically close and a long way from Salford. I will see if I can find anything with regards to W&G on Wednesday and post here. Regards, Garry
Andrew Hesketh Posted 8 January , 2012 Share Posted 8 January , 2012 I'm accessing this on my phone so the image is a bit poor for me (so ignore this comment if it's obviously irrelevant), but does it not say ..appele, rather than ..apple? shred Posted 8 January , 2012 Share Posted 8 January , 2012 Andrew, I would say that it did originally say appele, but the "ele" seems to have been overwritten in ink to say "le" at the end.
shred Posted 8 January , 2012 Share Posted 8 January , 2012 In the 1911 census his father's brother-in-law is living with the family... his name is Edmund Edward Charles Ward... an Engineer's fitter. Could this be the link?
shred Posted 8 January , 2012 Share Posted 8 January , 2012 The original Company known as Ward & Goldstone was founded by the Meyer Hart Goldstone and James Henry Ward in Gorton 1882. If I have the correct James Henry Ward? the 1911 shows that he was born in Lambeth. We still need to connect him with Edward Charles Ward. Edit: I can't get any further with this at the moment. I may be clutching at straws?
