I must congratulate you. You have shown some excellent portrait photos of American soldiers with their uniforms and equipment .

Thank you. I appreciate it. Here's a corporal of the 30th Engineers (Gas and Flame).

As it was an all-volunteer unit, do you suppose this fellow joined because he wanted more than anything in the world to gas and burn the enemy? What a face!

I would not have thought so........

I don't believe that they would have been evacuating wounded during an artillery attack.
