micks Posted 4 January , 2012 Posted 4 January , 2012 Hi all I,m constructing a data base of the officers who served in the London Regt and transferred to the RFC. At this moment I,m working through the 7th Battalion and have come up against a wall. Second Lieutenant William Wallace Hutton transferred to the RFC sometime before his death on the 28th of October 1917. Unfortunately I have been unable to locate the squadron that he was serving with. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Micks
nieuport11 Posted 4 January , 2012 Posted 4 January , 2012 The London Gazette shows him promoted to 2Lt on 23.6.16 He was killed in action 28.10.17 while attached to 7A Naval Sqn in Handley Page O/100 serial 3122 with Flt SubLt G Andrews and Ldg Mech G A Kent who were taken POW
micks Posted 4 January , 2012 Author Posted 4 January , 2012 Thanks for that Nieuport Unfortunately he doesn,t appear to be my man. I very rarely do any research into unknown aircrew due to the compexity of tracking there movements. However in Larch Wood (Railway Cutting) Cemetery lies a S/Lt of the 7th London Regt attached to the RFC. In Officers Died in the Great War there are recorded only three men who moved across. Hutton being nearest match As always there could be errors. Anyway I,ll continue the search. all the best Micks
