ARMAGH Posted 3 January , 2012 Posted 3 January , 2012 From Armagh Guardian dated 20-8-1915 More ladies, members of the St John,s Ambulance classes in connection with the UVF, have left for hospital training, were taking up Red Cross duty in military hospitals. Miss Whitsett, Miss Eva Watson, Miss Eva Bedford Mrs Lawless Have all left Armagh. Any information on these ladies? did they stay as Red Cross or join as nurses? did they go to the front? Many thanks Joe
royalredcross Posted 3 January , 2012 Posted 3 January , 2012 If they are listed as members of St. John Ambulance (Please NOT St.John's) then they would have probably been VADs going off for training in a military hospital. They would not have appreciated you calling them Red Cross as there was a healthy rivalry between the two organisations. NGG
