Jim Hastings Posted 29 December , 2011 Share Posted 29 December , 2011 Good evening Does any member know what shoulder titles were worn by this unit? Was it '9 LONDONS' or 'QVR' or something else? I have seen a photograph of a London Rifle Brigade soldier with a 'LRB' tab and wondered if the QVR used similar Looking into two local (Uckfield) brothers who died on the Somme in 1916 with this unit and have just started my research on the QVR. Any information on QVR insignia would be greatly appreciated Many thanks Jim

john gregory Posted 30 December , 2011 Share Posted 30 December , 2011 The 9th Londons also wore a Q.V.R. black on khaki flash just under the epoulette. As shown on photo on rifleman Leslie Lionel Longman, kia 25.8.1918.
FROGSMILE Posted 30 December , 2011 Share Posted 30 December , 2011 The 9th Londons also wore a Q.V.R. black on khaki flash just under the epoulette. As shown on photo on rifleman Leslie Lionel Longman, kia 25.8.1918. I understand that these cloth titles became increasingly popular in some infantry units after 1916, as they avoided the snagging of shoulder titles on web equipment shoulder straps.
