BillyH Posted 30 December , 2011 Share Posted 30 December , 2011 Hello Mendingham, and welcome to the Forum. His service record may not have survived the London blitz, but if you post some details about your grandfather here, then you will certainly get some help from this Forum. His full name, Army number, regiment, place of birth, exact date of death, medals received, a photo in uniform, etc etc - any of these things, plus any other information you may have. Get the details on here as soon as you can, and you may be surprised what they will turn up for you. Regards, BillyH

sotonmate Posted 30 December , 2011 Share Posted 30 December , 2011 M Will you know that he died of wounds in one of the three Casualty Clearing Stations that were based at Mendinghem (name made up by the Tommies together with two others nearby,Dozinghem and Bandaghem) in 1917 for the Third Ypres offensive ? Burials in that Cemetery were largely from these medical units. We look forward to assisting you in your quest. Sotonmate
