Superb images Cnock - thanks ever so much for sharing them with us.

Is an actual locality known for the stricken tank 'Eldorado'? I see the caption says Langemark, but I'd be interested to know where exactly.

All the best

Hi Steve,

thanks

the tank Eldorado was situated in the village of Langemark

the tank Mark IV female was stuck in Langemark during the attack of 22 August 1917 towards Eagle Trench

Some 25 years ago I visited the area around Loker and talked to a farmer who had found a field kitchen during ploughing the previous year. Nice to think it's the one in post #42!

Thanks for clearing that up for me Cnock,

I did wonder if it was a casualty of the assault on The Cockcroft and surrounding strongpoints on the 19th of August. I recalled that one female became ditched taking The Cockcroft and I thought this might have been the same tank - but checking my notes it seems all the tanks involved on the 19th returned, so clearly not! :)

All the best

Amazing pictures Cnock. The absolute destruction is awesome. I just have to take their word for it that those few humps are the remains of the Passendael church

It has been a huge injustice to lay waist to so many men and so much land, these images say more than words ever could.

I'm enjoying watching this thread, keep them comming Cnock.

Wendy

P.s I have managed to find some similar postcards of Ploegsteert on Delcampe.
