Aurel will be pleased with # 232. He kindly took me to Het Sas last year and I think it is a regular walk for him.

Thanks Cnock. The Templars' Tower was used to direct British naval gunfire support during the Battle of First Ypres. It was somewhat taller then ;)

Hello Robert,

Thanks

And the Templars Tower was destroyed in 1916 by the Tirpitz Battery when it was used by the French army as OP

Just found this thread. The images are awesome in the proper meaning of that word !!

Somehow the fact that the photos were taken after conflict was over and the armies had gone home highlights the scale of the destruction and waste. Particularly disturbing are those which show the growth of weeds and grass around items of battle still scattered about. Time soon passes and nature begins to cover up the scene of so much suffering and sacrifice.

This topic/thread has astonished me. It is true that a picture speaks a thousand words, and these pictures together speak volumes.

Thanks to all who have contributed their photos.

I have learned some more today, and I will keep looking tomorrow.

With Kindest Regards.

What a wonderful collection of cards thanks for sharing.

I picked up the following post card folder from a antique shop, it is not dated and appears to be the second set in a series???post-55705-0-50488500-1347168948_thumb.j
