Dear Everyone

This is my first post on the GWF so please excuse any naivety. I am a renegade from the British Medal Forum......

I have two questions:

1. Does anyone have a digital version of the map with these coordinates 57D.X.27.c.3.2. please? It relates to the 4/ Middlesex attack in the vicinity of Fricourt between July 1st and 2nd.

If someone does, and since I have no idea how to read the coordinates could they mark the exact location for me.

2. Although, I have Ray Westlake's book, does anyone have the 4 Btn War Diary for July 1st-4th inclusive.

Many thanks in advance.

Regards

John

John, welcome to the forum. You will soon be hooked. I have marked the map reference with a green cross. Typically it is right on the edge, but you should be able to get your bearings. Map courtesy of TNA Trench Map CD from N and M Press.

Sorry, forgot to mention that this is a great site for understanding how to read trench maps (from Western front Association):

Roger

Many thanks (from a former member of Mosley F C who has fond memories of the Reddings but alas no longer lives in Birmingham).

I am very grateful and appreciative at your speed of response.

Now for the War Diary.

Best wishes for Christmas and the New Year.

If you want to PM anyone about their diarys you will have to have posted five messages before your able to use that feature.
