I have been trying to find the service file of 19590/DA Deck Hand William Munroe Walls on the NA site.

I have his Medal Records from Ancestry and his between war record from the Australian National Archives, but no luck with his WW1 file.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

All original RNR ratings' record cards are held at the Fleet Air Arm Museum. They can provide copies. TNA have microfilm copies but they are not on-line.

This man's BWM has been tracked down and it has confirmed he is the right one. His father was named Robert Walls and rumour has it he served alongside William. On the same R.N.R. Medal Roll page there is a 13499/DA Deck Hand Robert F Walls entitled to the BWM and VM. I believe this is the right man.

I note there is also a 13499 Deck Hand Robert Walls on M.M.R Medal Roll entitled to the 1914/15 Star, BWM and VM. I assume this is the same man and that he first served in the Mercantile Marine Reserve before transferring to the Royal Naval Reserve? Could anyone elighten me?

I have e-mailed the Fleet Air Arm Musuem, but no reply yet on the R.N.R. Service Records. Where would I find Mercantile Marine Service Records?
