Can anybody shed any light on "C.B.I. Depot" at Bangalore ? Is this a concentration depot similar to that at Deolali ?

What was it ? and what was the number of the depot ?

Appreciate any insights.

Regards

Dave

C. B. I was a WW2 abbreviation for China Burma India Theatre/Theater. There was indeed a CBI Depot in Bangalore from 1942 - 1945 which supported the operations to fly supplies to China "over the hump". I think it was mainly an American Army Airforce site that serviced DC3s and the like.

Thanks Centurian.

Had never heard of that before. Have a ref to No.14 CBI depot being in Bangalore in a couple of 1919 Service Records around the time of the 3rd Afghan War.

Thanks for this. As Bangalore was number 14 there must have been a lot of them. Will dig deeper.

Anyone know what an IBD called in India ?

Dave
