Wings5797 Posted 8 December , 2011 Share Posted 8 December , 2011 I am trying to find the detail of footwear worn by the Highland Division at the out set of WW1. I can only find statements along the lines of 'Brogues brown, let to drift to black in use, with a pattern less ornate than modern brogues'. Any help or guidance anyone can offer on this subject would be very much appreciated. 4thGordons Posted 8 December , 2011 Share Posted 8 December , 2011 I have a modern (1960s) pair I might be able to dig out and phtotograph for you for comparison - but Joe Sweeney might well be your man on this, he may have details and patterns. If he does not see this thread you might try PM'ing him. I have lots of pictures of Gordons from this period but of course the gaiters largely cover the brogues so little can be discerned. Wings5797 Posted 8 December , 2011 Author Share Posted 8 December , 2011 Thanks for the information gents, The pictures on the thread are exactly what I am looking for. I am in no hurry but if you do get a moment to photograph your 1960's pair Chris I would be most grateful. Regards Keith
