looking for any info on this man....i got some info some time ago , his name was powell ,1916 -1920. thats about all. the regt number on the bearskin is not too clear but some member deciphered it . i bought the cap four or five yrs ago, the skin is in good order for its age, the cane frame a bit knocked about.

3586 John Louis Woolley from Connahs Quay has some papers in 'Pensions'

I would say the second digit is remains of a 5 and the letter W would tend to give it towards Private Woolley.john

this is a second or later service number on the cap , doe`s it help to pin down a certain batt which two of these numbers would have served in , in turn.

There doesn't appear to be a MIC for a 9708 welsh guards - possibly a post war number or from a person who never served overseas.

Not 100% certain but I would expect that a hat like this would be re-cycled after a soldier had ceased using it so it may have had more than 1 owner.
