sotonmate Posted 27 November , 2011 Posted 27 November , 2011 jack Can you paint a larger picture,a few more details as to why you ask ? It might jog a memory or two somewhere here. No hits with any of my processes. Sotonmate
WJBates Posted 28 November , 2011 Author Posted 28 November , 2011 There is a reference to "Crook Lane Barracks" in a letter dated 1907 at Work Point Barracks in Esquimalt, Victoria, BC...Sadly I haven't seen the letter yet, but thinking it may have a reference to a member of the Royal Artillery or Royal Engineers who left Esquimalt bound for home in 1906, to Britain as the garrison was turned over to the Canadian government.....hope this helps some.....regards to you sotonmate, I was in Sequim this weekend, wonderful retirement community !....jack
sotonmate Posted 28 November , 2011 Posted 28 November , 2011 Jack You're making me envious now ! I'd say yes to the Olympic Peninsula again. I will keep my eyes open on this.Thought I had a hit last night,a ref to a "Crooked Lane" in Chichester,West Sussex but the word barracks was part of a script which didn't in the end relate to the Lane ! Chich. used to be the home of the RMPs (Redcaps),might still be for all I know.I did have an idea that they had gone tri-service and shared a training base with other arms of the military. Regards to you . Sotonmate

Sotonmate Thanks for that ......I heard reference to a Crook Lane in Barnard Castle, Durham I think...There was a collier that went down in 1886 off shore near here named Barnard Castle...That's all I have so far...regards jack
