deano Posted 25 November , 2011 Posted 25 November , 2011 Harold served with the RFC during the war. His living relative in Canada has asked me to ask forummers if they have any idea of where to find any info on him, such as surviving papers, what medals he earned, which if any aircraft he flew etc, etc. His relative is a retired Squadron Leader with the Canadian Airforce. Many thanks in advance, Dean.
RaySearching Posted 25 November , 2011 Posted 25 November , 2011 Hi Dean Weight Harold George Address 10 Albert Road Langside Glasgow Born 27th December 1899 at Sheffield Nationality British Rank Sergt RFC If its this chap there is a photo of him in the Royal Aero Club Aviators’ Certificates, on Ancestry regards Ray
David_Underdown Posted 25 November , 2011 Posted 25 November , 2011 He may well have service papers in AIR 79 at The National Archives, but not in the section of the series which has so far been recatalogued by name. If we can work out his service number from other sources it will be possible to work out the relevant reference. There's also an index in AIR 78. Neither series has been digitised, so can only be seen on site at Kew
deano Posted 26 November , 2011 Author Posted 26 November , 2011 Ray, David, many thanks for your time on this, much appreciated. I'll direct the relative to TNA. regards Dean.
