frogturn Posted 23 November , 2011 Posted 23 November , 2011 Hi to all.I picked up this hammer from a local car boot. The haft is very similar to the british entrenching tool haft.its about 12 inches long. What do the good people of the forum think? Is it military?Have you seen one before?your thoughts please. Many thanks,Paul.
wainfleet Posted 24 November , 2011 Posted 24 November , 2011 Not seen one before but the head arrangement is also similar to the GS pick. Looks British military to me. I'm specially inclined to think so given that the 2-part arrangement readily allows broken handles to be replaced, something you would not normally associate with a commercial item, whose makers would prefer you to buy a new one.
centurion Posted 24 November , 2011 Posted 24 November , 2011 Looks like an old mason's/brickie's hammer. Until comparatively recently almost all hammers had hafts that could be replaced.
