4thGordons Posted 10 December , 2011 Posted 10 December , 2011 Hello Mike, Thanks for posting this web address. You are right it's loaded with great information and photographs of of the group in various Gordon uniforms. Best regards, Keith I would caution a little care with some of the statements on this site. Some of them are somewhat ambiguous and in my view potentially misleading. For example - there was not a "highland pattern" of the 1902 Service Dress Jacket. The modification to the front skirt (cutaway) was done at the unit level. It was not until the 1921 pattern that a specific highland pattern was added - this challenges quite a bit of the discussion on the uniform page regarding the issue of unmodified jackets. Likewise reference to Pattern 14 leather equipment as "emergency" pattern etc. The discussion of weapons also ignores the fact that the Territorial Battalions largely fought for a year with CLLE (long lees) not SMLEs (including Loos for example) I know these comments are tediously picky but.... I don't want to sound too churlish as there is some good stuff on this site but there are also elements that I would question. It seems largely designed for reenactors which is in itself fine but not necessarily the be all and end all. Chris
