Jack served as a signaller IIRC, with the 122nd Brigade, 41st Division. I found his description of Italy after the trials and tribulations of fighting in France and Flanders particuarly illuminating.

Got a tweet this morning from Amazon re this, apparently they will be doing a 'Book of the day' over the next while and I purchased it instantly, not read the book before but given the author I think it will be both excellent and a real bargain.
