cpaige Posted 20 November , 2011 Posted 20 November , 2011 I found it interesting reading the article about HMS India. My question is, "Was their any more crew members from other ships or other navy personal interned in Norway or in Denmark?" Any German personal from ships or uboats? Any books on this subject?
Spud Trevor Posted 20 November , 2011 Posted 20 November , 2011 Hello, The crew of the Royal Navy submarine E13 were interned in Denmark. There is an interesting (and very good) account on the website below: http://www.navalhistory.dk/english/history/1914_1918/E13_%20incident.htm Regards, Spud
Signals Posted 27 November , 2011 Posted 27 November , 2011 Germans also interned, crew of the raider Wolf bringing back a prize ship Igotz Mendi ran aground & were interned. Both Wolf & Igotz Mendi easily passed through the impregnable Naval Blockade in 1918, only for Igotz Mendi to run aground in fog. Try the book THE WOLF by Richard Guillaiat & Peter Hohnen, it is an amazing account of how much disruption one Armed Merchant Raider could cause, the Allies were keen not to let the Germans know just how effective this ship was on her 64,000 mile cruise.
