celiatoo Posted 18 November , 2011 Posted 18 November , 2011 My grandfather served in WW1 in the Kings liverpool regiment in Flanders. He suffered a gas attack and got transferred to the Labour Corp. I know he had 3 medals one of them was either the 1914 or 1915 star (I used to polish them for him) However one of his medal cards appears to be missing from the Index and because of that although I know his regimental number in the Kings Liverpool I don't know what battalion he was with and therefore cant find out when he entered France. Is there any way of researching his battalion from the regimental number? Also as I do not know the roll number for the 1914/15 star medal is there any way of searching the original records at kew alphabetically or even numberically by regimental number to find the Roll Number. I hope someone can answer these questions. Thanks
daggers Posted 18 November , 2011 Posted 18 November , 2011 Have you tried both the National Archives documents online and Ancestry? If you post your g/f's name, number and known details here, I am sure someone will be able to help you. Daggers
