waldo Posted 17 November , 2011 Posted 17 November , 2011 Gents, The 50th Infantry Division in peacetime was part of XXII Corps in the Petersburg MD. In 1914 when that corps moved to reinforce the NW Front the 50th was left behind. It later appears in Warsaw. Does anyone know when the 50th was sent to Warsaw? By the way, the rail journey for troops from Petersburg to Warsaw took 4 days. This from the memoires of an officer in the Guards Rifle Brigade/ Waldo
jwsleser Posted 18 November , 2011 Posted 18 November , 2011 Waldo A quick check has the 50th XX moving forward in early Oct 1914. It formed the V Sib XXX with the 79th XX, later the latter division was replaced with the 6th Sib XX. Jeff

Yes, I see now--you actually joined not shortly after I did. I'm also not as active here as I once was--real life has definitely won out over my cyber persona! All the best for the holidays. Paul
