Hi

New to Forum and researching one of my Relatives.

Hope someone can help locate details for:

Pte George Beavan or could be George Bevan

Enlisted in Coldstream Guards in London 1900 - Boar War Service, I think ??

BEF 1914 to 1916

Not sure what happened after 1916 ??

Would appreciate some pointers for my future Research on Service/Medals etc etc

Many thanks

Gerry,

George Beavan's service records are on Ancestry {9 pages, under 'Pension' records}. He enlisted in 1900, number 3745. He served until 1917 and was promoted to Lance Corporal.

Welcome to the forum where you will find lots of helpers.

Have you tried the Long Long Trail website, link at the top left of these pages? That gives loads of 'how to..' stuff.

Although for most soldiers of WW1 vintage, 2/3 sets of service records were lost in the WW2 blitz, the link with the Coldstream Guards means you are lucky, because the Brigade of Guards kept their own records, and you should look for them at their Birdcage Walk, HQ, London. It will cost you!

A Medal Index Card for George BeAven, 3745, Coldstream Gds, can be downloaded from the National Archives website for £2 or free via Ancestry. It will show his entitlement to medals and perhaps have more.

By the way it was BoEr War!

Good hunting!
