wpf1958 Posted 15 November , 2011 Posted 15 November , 2011 I am trying to trace information on Lieutenant Colonel Francis Cyril Rupert Studd, DSO, who died on Saturday 13th April 1918, aged 37, commemorated on Panel 2 on Ploegsteert Memorial. Francis was born on Wednesday 9th February 1881, second son of Edward Fairfax and Evelyn Studd of Oxton, Exeter. He was educated at Blundell’s School, Tiverton, from January 1893 to summer 1890, and a member of School House. Francis passed into RMC Sandhurst. On Saturday 24th October 1914, at St Andrew’s Church, Kenn, Exeter, he married Edith Julia Studd (née Short) and they had a daughter. He was awarded the DSO on 1st January 1918. He was killed by a shell that hit his HQ that killed or wounded all those contained in it. Any further information on his service during the war or personal information would be gratefully received.
