The Schutztruppe was very keen on using bands for parades and recruiting, and buglers for operational signalling. bushfighter Posted 15 November , 2011 Author Share Posted 15 November , 2011 Construction of the first railway line in German East Africa, from Tanga to Korogwe, 1893 - 1899.This was the start of the Usambara Railway which was used tactically by the Germans as they retreated in 1916, and which after capture was a vital part of the British supply chain.
