Remembered Today:

DCLI, RSM Finch

Dear all

I am trying to find out about my great uncle, RSM William Finch of the DCLI. He fought in SA and I believe was one of the Old Contemptibles, was taken prisoner and had a rotten war as a POW, died not long after the war, it is claimed, as a result of his treatment by the Germans, and two months after he married.

He was a professional soldier, shouldn't be too hard to track down, RSMs were pretty rare beast and scary beasts too.

Any thoughts where I could begin?

Here's his pic - a model of an RSM don 't you think?

regards
