Any Information on this man. Pte Richard Mayhew DOW 30/4/18 Service No 34637 Kings own Yorkshire Light Infantry / Formerly 6077 Yorkshire Dragoons. Enlisted Middlesbrough. Grave I.B.35 Esquelbecq Military Cemetery. could their be an address for him on the Medel Index Card and are his papers available with any further Information. Best Regards Peter.

No mention of the 6077 number on his MIC:-

Regiment or Corps: Yorkshire Regiment, Yorkshire Light Infantry

Regimental Number: 4774, 34637

Just the Victory and British medals. Unfortunately no address on the card and I can't see any other papers relating to him.

You're welcome, Peter. Interesting that that information was added - there's no indication of his age on CWGC so I'm wondering when he would have served with the Dragoons, as it seems he didn't go abroad with them.

Also believe that the Yorkshire Dragoon connection was as a Territorial (or so the family believe)

Hi

Richard was the son of William a Checkweighman ( Shipping wharf) and Mary Jane Mayhew

He can be found on the 1911 census residing with his parents and siblings at 1 Hunter Street Middlesbrough

Aged 16 employed as a Shop assistant in a Pawnbrokers Shop

Richard was wounded in actions at the battle of Scherpenberg and died of his wounds on April 30th 1918 aged 23
