5thsfnam Posted 13 November , 2011 Posted 13 November , 2011 Hi, This may be impossible to know but I'd like to try. My Grand-Father was Edward Hugh McNally, born 6 June 1879 Poonamallee, India. Enlisted RFA 5 Sept. 1893 Kirkee, India with the 72nd Battery, Station Kirkee RFA. Following info on his Medal card, Reg. No. 20857 Gunner. Qualifying date for "14-Star" is 11/9/14. S.W.B.List RA/1946. Badge No. 411157. Discharge on medical grounds 7 June 1918. Died 3 July 1925 Waterford Co. Hospital Waterford Ireland, cancer of Intestines and cardiac failure after 3 days. The records department say that his records were destroyed WWII, yet when I try looking up name McNally for other people I can find? So... what I would like to know where the battery may have been spring 1918 and if there is a mention of being gassed. I believe my Uncle sold his medals in the 1970-1980 period possibly Calif. USA. In any event I have been watching e-bay for about the last 10-15 years but no luck. Is there another way to search for his medals that's more productive. Is there a Battery Roster available? Needless to say any and all info. would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Howard
