GrahamC Posted 13 November , 2011 Posted 13 November , 2011 Hi pals I'm not sure which part of the Forum to put this - so hoping this will do! My erstwhile RBL Chairman has given me another document that might be of interest to some Forum members. As many of you will know Buxton, and other Peak District towns, were the location for a number of Hospitals in both World Wars, in particular of Canadian soldiers (and WW2 airmen) and Buxton Cemetery has 36 Canadian burials from both Wars - we will remember them. It seems that "The Canadian Patients - for Their Friends Everywhere" produced the "Canadian Hospital News" published here in Buxton. The copy I have is dated March 16, 1918, celebrating the 2nd Birthday. It contains articles on the transfer of the 'Granville Canadian Special Hospital' from Ramsgate to Buxton's Palace Hotel, among others, "owing to the air raids". There are also some poems plus an article on the Matlock Bath Convalescent Home. (Any former students of Matlock College will recognise it as Rockside Hall - the girls' hall of residence!!) If anyone is interesed in reading it I have scanned the pages and loaded them onto Photobucket. I've also created a .pdf if anyone needs a hard copy - PM me and I'll send it you. Graham
