Stephen Nulty Posted 12 November , 2011 Posted 12 November , 2011 Yesterday, a new website commemorating the men and women of St Helens, Lancashire, who fell in the two World Wars was launched. This is the Home Page
daggers Posted 12 November , 2011 Posted 12 November , 2011 Good stuff there. I was in St Helens just after 11.00 yesterday and missed a ceremony which had finished shortly beforehand. Chairs for VIPs were being cleared away, but many poppy crosses had been left in a small garden area. Also the archives department (and possibly the main library) had held two minutes of silence. Many shops also indicated they had done so. Daggers
Pighills Posted 12 November , 2011 Posted 12 November , 2011 Lovely website Stephen, well done! I did try to watch the video on the home page, but couldn't get it to work.
Stephen Nulty Posted 13 November , 2011 Author Posted 13 November , 2011 Just to avoid any confusion, the St Helens Rolls of Honour site isn't mine, though I did help out with some of the identification of the casualties. The two men who deserve all the praise for this are local St Helens men 'Dave' and 'Le200', who have created this site in less than three months from the day they decided to do it, so deserve all our congratulations for their efforts.
Charles Fair Posted 13 November , 2011 Posted 13 November , 2011 Great site, congratulations to those involved. Nice to see material to many men of the 11 S Lancs. Charles
