johndavidswarbrick Posted 13 November , 2011 Posted 13 November , 2011 King's Regulations Paragraph 392 xvi a - "Surplus to military requirements [having suffered impairment since entry into the service]" A. O. followed by a date refers to the relevant Army Order issued on that date under which authority the discharge took place. Para B.i. - I have no idea, but I suspect that it refers to some form of sub-division of the regulations which gave a little more information on the specific circumstances of each discharge. Guest keithnewman Posted 13 November , 2011 Posted 13 November , 2011 I have my great grandfather William George Sidney Newman. par. 392 (xxv) and it says services no longer required. Does anyone no why this should be?
sotonmate Posted 13 November , 2011 Posted 13 November , 2011 keith Have you taken a read of this in the Long Long Trail,at top left of the page ? http://www.1914-1918.net/grandad/swb.htm it gives all the reasons for discharge, most of them specific, except, and maybe not exceptionally,(xxv)which might be a device where no other item satisfies the need of the authority.Even that has a sub-clause A after it. SteveE Posted 13 November , 2011 Posted 13 November , 2011 A.O. ii d/-10-8-17 A.O. II d/10-8-17 actually relates to Army Order 265 II of 1917, the details of which can be found Here. Should hopefully tell you what you need. Regards Steve
