The Warwickshire Yeomanry Museum will be closed for the winter hibernation on the 13th November, 2011 and will not re-open until the Spring of 2013.

Yes the Spring of 2013 consequent upon the Warwick Town Council and the Warwickshire Yeomanry Museum Trust securing £368k from the Heritage Lottery Fund. This money will enable the Grade 1 listed Court House to undergo an exciting restoration and conservation programme as part of the Unlocking Warwick Project.

The grant will also pay for conservation works to the Yeomanry Museum located in the Court House basement, by improving environmental conditions for its collections and making them more accessible to the public. New access to the building will be greatly improved, with the provision of a lift, kitchen and new toilets. Renovation work to the Ballroom will encourage greater use of the facilities and transform the building into a Visitor Centre.

Those wishing to visit the Museum between now and mid December 2011 are asked to contact me by using the electronic contact form in our website to arrange a suitable time to visit. www.warwickshire-yeomanry-museum.co.uk .

From 1st January 2012 the Museum will be closed completely whilst arrangements are put in place to securely store the collection until we re-open in the Spring of 2013, providing all the necessary building work is completed on time.

The Museum will continue to respond to research enquiries from now until we re-open in 2013. Plans are in place to include images of some of our displays & exhibits on our website and so we shall effectively operate as a virtual Museum until 2013.

There will be a notice posted on our website shortly confirming these arrangements, with further updates being added accordingly as work progresses.

The following is by way of a sitrep – The Warwickshire Yeomanry Museum remains closed.

Essential building work to the Court House, Warwick in which our Museum is situated will commence shortly. The building sits on the foundations of three former medieval houses and a further structural survey has been required given there are plans to install a lift to gain access to the Museum.

Although we are planning to re-open the Museum in the Spring of 2013, the delayed start to the building work could well mean we may not re-open until the Summer of 2013.

Our archives are currently not accessible to the general public – however if you have a general enquiry about the Regiment during the Great War then please contact me direct or at www.warwickshire-yeomanry-museum.co.uk

The following is by way of a sitrep

Much work has been done since we reopened in August 2014 to improve and upgrade the exhibits in the Warwickshire Yeomanry Museum, Warwick.

The Museum was closed throughout much of 2020 and has only recently fully reopened.

The Museum is open at weekends from 10am to 4pm until 14 November 2021 - see website for further details re private viewings and research enquiries. http://www.warwickshire-yeomanry-museum.co.uk

In recent years more Warwickshire Yeomanry medals have been donated to the Museum - many now include colour coded labels to make it easy to identify those present on the Horse Transport Wayfarer (April 1915); those in Egypt, Gallipoli, The Sinai, Palestine and finally the Western Front in 1918.
