I have a Territorial Force Efficiency Medal to this soldier but what does this card mean. I have run various searchs but come up with the same result. Should I be looking for another card.

His TFEM is named 481002 T S Mjr R W Allpress RAMC

Steve

What you may find is your man did not qualify for any WW1 campaign service medals as he did serve in a recognised theatre of war during the qualifying period.

Thanks Ian, do you mean that he did not serve . If this is the case, would he have served in a UK hospital.

I have seen a number of cards like this for officers of the RDC who did not serve overseas (hence no medals) but were entitled to the Silver War Badge. The date elligible is probably date he left the forces.

Thanks Jock. It does seem a shame that these guys stayed at home and did important work but got no medals.

Steve

Yes - the contribution of Home Service men is very often ignored and if their service record did not survive, lost forever. :(
