Only if they served in France and Flanders before 22nd November 1914. Your relative may have a split MIC. This is where his star is on a seperate MIC to his pair. Have you checked the medal rolls? PhilB Posted 20 July , 2004 Share Posted 20 July , 2004 Quote:- was the 1914 star awarded to every soldier of the british expeditionary force. Did the title "British Expeditionary Force" apply to the British (ie UK) forces in F&F throughout the war? It`s just that it seems odd to refer to it as such even in the later years when it doesn`t look "expeditionary" any longer. Phil B
Chris_Baker Posted 20 July , 2004 Share Posted 20 July , 2004 Yes, the BEF remained the BEF until the very end.

Chris Posted 20 July , 2004 Share Posted 20 July , 2004 Andy. I think you will be able to clear this up if you contact the museum of Lincolnshire life on Burton Road Lincoln, as they hold a roll of the 1st Lincs Battalion, which lists all the men who went overseas with the battlion before the 22nd Nov 1914. I presume it was compiled for the very purpose of allocating the 1914 Star. Chris
