keithmroberts Posted 14 October , 2011 Share Posted 14 October , 2011 Take a little time to look at the Long Long trail, (linl at the top of the page), and at the information about researching soldiers on the website of the National; Archives. Those two will set you on the road, and members here will be pleased to help you Keith

Grant yes his name was william teague we no he was wounded in france we think he joined the army about 1917ish he was born in dec 27 1899 he was from stockton on tees thats why we couldnt understand why he would join the duke of wellington west riding reg but after googling it they took men from middlesbrough from 1916 and went to france which ties in without the help from the forum on the belts badge we wouldnt of got the regement so thankyou for the members kind help
sotonmate Posted 15 October , 2011 Share Posted 15 October , 2011 carmot If he had other Christian names could you post them. My check of Medal Index Cards didn't bring up any William Teague with the DOW West Riding Regt. It may be that he had another name and they called him by his second one ! I did find an Ernest (9829 of 2 West Riding),a Charles (21/1023 of 21 West Riding) and a Walter (7459 of 2 West Riding). Sotonmate
keithmroberts Posted 15 October , 2011 Share Posted 15 October , 2011 He was just William Teague in the 1911 census, but we really do need something more to go on. There were a number of William Teague's in other regiments, and a handful with W as a second initial. Is there any chance of anyone in the family remembering more?
