Guest GeoffK Posted 20 July , 2004 Share Posted 20 July , 2004 About a year ago I unexpectedly inherited my Grandfather's FOB watch and chain. He served fo many years in the RGA, was demobbed originally in 1912 but recalled for service in the Great War. According to his diaries he saw service as a Gunner with the EEF in Palestine. Attached to the chain is a medalion. On one side is the crest of the RA with engraving underneath "134 Siege Battery". On the other side is a coat of arms (?) embossed with "50 Siege BTY RGA". My question is, was this medalion officially issued by the RGA?? and if so when? Any information would be welcomed Thanks Geoff
Guest Ian Bowbrick Posted 20 July , 2004 Share Posted 20 July , 2004 It looks like a Unit specific medal, which could be a sports or commemorative medal. Ian
