Family Photographic Portrait of a Soldier

Recommended Posts

I have in my possession a Star Photographic picture of a soldier - on the reverse is the Number 84793 which I believe may be a plate number

He is probably a family member but who I do not know .........................

Can anyone shed some light, from examining the photo, as to he may be or what regiment he was in - a tall order I know BUT you can do it

Besides it's an order !

The number on the reverse is definitely a plate/negative number--apart from that there's not a lot to go on!! An enlargement of his buttons may provide his regiment although more likely they will be G.S.buttons.

Perhaps asking around within your family as to who served during WW1 may produce a few names?

I tend to agree with Old Owl that the number is for a plate rather than a service number but just in case it is worth checking out the names of the seven men that had 84793 as a service number at some point to see if any of them ring a bell:
