I am trying to trace a cousin of my great grandfather, unfortunatly i dont have much to go on. This is what i have.

Born in Montrose 1881

Parents David Johnson Forbes and Mary Ann Forbes (Smith)

1901 Private, Cavalary Barracks, Leith

died 1916 in France.

If anybody has any idea, information or tips it would be very much appreciated

Where did you get the information on the 1916 death?

There is a 1916 casualty, 23072 Joseph Forbes, Royal Scots Fusiliers, but he has existing service records and is not your man.

Thanks for the information.

I was told by a very distant relitive doing the family tree that Joseph died in France in 1916, i have asked her if she has any further information that will help us identify the correct Joseph.

until then its mostly guess work i think
