2nd Battalion of the Manchester Regiment

Although my Granddads records have not survived the WW2 bombing I’m hoping to put together a history of the 2nd Battalion of the Manchester Regiment from 1910 when he joined the Regiment as a 15year old until 1920 when he left the 2nd Battalion and joined the RAF.

I’m hoping to include a roll of honour and also references to battles that the 2nd Bn were involved in and trying to identify the ordinary ranks only listed as daily totals in the war diaries. I think it may be a project that will get bigger as time goes on as I would like to use stories of other soldiers that would of been where my Granddad may of been to get an idea of what life was like for him.

Although I do have some information I would be grateful for any information that anyone would care to let me have.

Thanks

Timberman

Hello John

Thank-you for allowing me to use the information on the soldiers.

I will give credit to anyone the gives me information that is only fair.

Hello Gerwyn

Thanks for the information.

It was at the second Battle of Ypres that my Granddad was wounded (for the first time) and ended up at the Ashton Barrack Hospital.

Thanks again for your replies.
