Attached is a photo and Medal Index Card of Richard Ralph Bothroyd (Boothroyd) 1894-1979 of Loftus, North Yorkshire. Photo taken in 1918 at Kohat, India. What Yorkshire regiment?

Any help appreciated.

Thank you

Jayne

Since he has only the British War Medal (usually seen for battalions that stayed in India and other Empire garrisons) and the 1919 General Service Medal with the Afghan clasp, I will go for:

1st Battalion, The Yorkshire Regiment

August 1914 : in Barian, Punjab, attached to 2nd (Rawalpindi) Division. Remained in India throughout the war. In November 1914, briefly moved to the Delhi Brigade in 7th (Meerut) Divisional Area before going to the Kohat Brigade on the North West Frontier. Took part in Third Afghan War in 1919.

I have only today acknowledged your outstanding help in locating Richard's service file in the Mis-Sorts at Ancestry. Please see my personal email to you and I would like to thank you publicly for this amazing find. I'm thrilled.

Hi Jayne,

I'd forgotten all about this but i'm glad you liked it. I see that the link has shifted about a bit over time, but I trust you skipped forward a few pages to image 320 and the correct man.

As for the rest of you lot, i'm not sure if you're taking the mick, but free rum is free rum so I won't be asking questions.
