tsrplatelayer Posted 26 September , 2011 Share Posted 26 September , 2011 This may not be the correct place to post, if not I appologise in advance and request advice on the correct forum to use. My grandfather served in the RMLI in WW1 - but that is not the purpose of my post. After WW1 he was demobbed and, unable to settle, re-enlisted in the King's Own Royal Regiment,Lancaster on 16 Aug 1922. No 3704896 Pt James Tweedie, born 1897 in Blackburn and attested in Burnley. He served in India before being invalided out, malaria I believe, in Dec 1925. This seems to be the period that meant most to him as, in his last few days his mind was wandering back to that period and he was continually talking to his mates in the cookhouse. I have just inherited a pack of postcards which he brought home with him, I can scan if anyone is interested. The purpose of the post is to find out what the his regiment was up to, presumably border patrol and bandit policing. Is their a regimental diary for the period? Later in WW2 he joined the RMP and served at Portsmouth docks, again ionvalided out after being buried in bomb rubble. Any help appreciated.
