Jack Sheldon Posted 23 September , 2011 Share Posted 23 September , 2011 Mike This is a good find. For those who do not recognise his name, Stein commanded XIV Res Corps on the Somme until he was transferred in October 1916. One of the chapters of the book has some interesting comments concerning his experiences in that role. One reminder of his presence is the memorial to the XIV Res Corps which is now in the German cemetery at Villers au Flos. The rhyming lines of the dedicatory inscription are by Stein.
